Rickshaw Bed

Concept Design.png

Personal Project

Project Overview

The cost-effective, agile compact and high speed make rickshaws (tuk tuk) one of the most integral and highly desired attributes of the urban and semi-urban public transport system. The conditions of the rickshaw drivers on the job are extremely difficult as they constantly battle extreme heat, rains, dust, pollution, noise, and traffic stress.

Drivers sleep in the passenger seat which is no more than 1.2m, with their backs cringed and feet hanging out of the rickshaw. Not only do some drivers nap in the afternoons but also sleep in this position through the night.

Vision

To suggest a minimal modification to the rickshaw design that incorporates a comfortable resting facility for the rickshaw driver. A simple bed for the rickshaw driver can provide him with complete reclination and enough rest.
